It was first designated as a town in the late 1960s and over the last 20 years, Milton Keynes has seen significant improvements and the town has developed into a progressive and productive area. Milton Keynes Council has been overseeing the development of the town for many years and they play a major role in the success of the town.

The first properties in the town were built in the surrounding villages such as Newport Pagnell, Wolverton, Bletchley, Bow Brickhill, Cranfield and Milton Keynes Village. These villages are all still part of Milton Keynes although many have grown into areas of their own right. City planning has increased the amount of property available by a huge amount and with a wide range of environments on offer, from lakeside six-bedroomed detached houses through to single storey, one-bedroomed flats close to the shopping centre; the town attracts a wide range of people.

Property Milton Keynes

One of the major points of interest in the town is its housing opportunities with numerous housing estates and villages located in and around the heart of the town. City planning has made sure that ...
... Milton Keynes covers a large area and as such there are varied styles of housing available depending on budget and taste. Located close to the centre of the town are many housing estates with Conniburrow, Fishermead and Springfield being some of the closest. Being within walking distance of the shops and amenities makes the surrounding housing estates some of the most popular and only slightly further afield are other estates called Downs Barn, Kents Hill, Heelands, Bradville, Stantonbury, Oldbrook and Bradwell Common.

Property in these estates varies from property owned by Milton Keynes Council that is rented out at subsidised rates through to privately owned and expensive homes complete with gardens. Milton Keynes is encompassed by many small villages that are a far cry from the housing that is found in the centre of the town. Quiet hamlets, lakes, country pubs selling homemade food and parks can all be enjoyed only a few minutes from the hustle and bustle that is prevalent in the built-up areas making it one of the most diverse towns for its property in the UK achieved through careful city planning.

Future housing in Milton Keynes

The future of housing in Milton Keynes looks set to increase further as new housing estates and new builds are popping up all over the town. Over the past decade Bletchley in particular has undergone many new housing additions with the top end of Whalley Drive now boasting two new areas of housing plus a row of houses located at the back of Lord Grey School fields. Areas to the southwest of the town centre close to Tattenhoe look set to welcome new housing in the near future and to the east around Broughton and Monkston there are plans from Milton Keynes Council to add more housing.

Detailed and competent city planning by Milton Keynes Council has lead the town to its current successes and as the town continues to grow, both old and new property in Milton Keynes stays in high demand.
