You will need to stay on top of things by being part of the home design and construction planning and it will be in your best interests to document the details that go into building your new home. When selecting the lot you will be building on, think about what is important for you. Do you want to be in the same town as your family or a bit further away? Considerations such as the shape, clearing, size, grading needs, view and how sloping or level it is will impact on the cost of building your home. New home builders will need to look at several lots before settling on one.

Selecting your builder is also an important part in the process. Since you want to customize your home make sure to select a builder that will listen to your needs and bring your dream to life. It is important for new home builders to speak to people and ask for recommendations. It is also important to get some references from the home builders that you can call and find out how well they do their job. Do your homework and you will not regret your choice.
