Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a rare nerve ailment. It's symptoms generally causes severe pain, and the affected areas may be hands, legs, feet, and arms. It normally occurs after a serious injury to the nerve or tissue of the affected areas. The illness is also called Causalgia. The pain often spreads to the entire leg or arm. Some of the changes occur in the affected areas, like changes in the temperature and color of the skin of the affected limb. Other symptoms also comprise intense burning pain, skin sensitivity, sweating, and swelling.
Various symptoms of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome are mentioned below:
• Change in skin color
• A burning & painful pain in the affected area
• Change in skin texture
• The affected area may be sensitive to touch, temperature
• Muscle pain and weakness
• Loss of movement in affected areas

For example, the doctor may take a test to check the amount of blood circulation and the skin temperature of a particular area. If the diagnose is doubtful, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can help to identify CRPS.
There are two types of CRPS which have totally different.
1) Type one CRPS- This syndrome is caused by injuries such as ankles that are fractured or injured.
2) Type two CRPS- This type of syndrome is caused by more severe injuries where there has been nerve damage such as a broken bone, an operation, or a serious infection.
Though the illness is rare, it is not completely eliminated. Putting a number is very hard; the estimation change from country to country. Some nations have one affected in 19,000 whereas others have 1 in 5000. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is more common among women and people between the ages of 50 to 70.
There is a solution for the ailment. Doctors generally recommend sympathetic block. This usually includes an injection of anesthesia, which impedes the pain signals. Physiotherapy and counseling may help at times.
If the disorder is identified, early regular treatments may help to keep the pain from recurring. But if the symptoms are severe or if it is diagnosed later, the patients may not respond to treatments.
