Shirdi is a small town located in Rahata Tahasil in Ahmednagar District in the State of Maharashtra, India. It is located in the busy Western Sea Shore line. Shirdi is best known as the home of the popular guru Shirdi Sai Baba. Shirdi is a very popular pilgrimage destination for devotees and sees a floating population of about half a million people during the holidays. On a daily basis there are about 2500 devotees.
Shirdi is located about 300 kms from Mumbai and is called the Land of the Sai. Every activity in Shirdi revolves around the templededicated to Sai Baba. Devotees start queuing up in the early hours of morning to seek the blessings of the life-size statue of Sai Baba. On every Thursday is marked a special puja and darshan of the Sai Baba statue is held in the temple. Other places of interest that devotees can visit are the Dwarkamani Mosque where the Baba meditated and slept on alternate nights, near the mosque, in a corridor is the dhuni or eternal flame that burns day and night, the Gurusthan, the Kandoba Temple, Shani Mandir, Narsimha Mandir, Changdev Maharaj Samadhi and the Sakori Ashram. Shani Shingnapur is a famous Shani temple located near Shirdi. A Sai garden is also in the pipeline to showcase the life and teachings of Sai Baba through laser shows and live shows.
Shirdi is gearing up for the year 2018 as it is the year of 100th anniversary of Shri Sai Baba Punyatithi. It was on the day of Dassera in 1918 that Shri Sai Baba took Samadhi. To accommodate the massive turnout Government officials and the trust have a crowd management program and to facilitate the darshans. This development is also believed to boost Shirdi's infrastructure & overall development. This opportunity has led to an increase in the number of hospitality groups entering Shirdi. It houses a natural Shiva ling and was believed to have been worshipped by the Guru Mhadev in the 12th Century. The caves can be reached via motorboats.
The artificial Srisailam Dam is situated amidst beautiful scenery and natural greenry and makes for a popular site for tourists. It is five hundred and twelve meters across Krishna River. Animal lovers can also visit one of the largest tiger reserves in India, the Srisailam Sanctuary. A number of wild animals like tigers, leopards and cheetahs can be seen here. Tarkarli is a famous tourist destination in the coastal plains of Maharashtra, India. It is well knownf for its beautiful and clean silver beaches which stretch for miles. The “shuru” trees dotting the seashore, the wide rivers, tiny hamlets and beautiful sailboats make the scenery of Tarkarli picture perfect. The village is also famed for its festival hosted during ramnavami every year with dramas in the Marpurush temple. The festival draws a lot of crowds from nearby villages and other States as well. Chandigarh, a union territory of India, is perhaps, the only state which serves as a capital of two states, Haryana and Punjab. The name translates as the ‘ Fort of Chandi'. Chandi is a goddess of the Hindus. It is the first planned city of India and is known internationally for its architecture and urban design. The city has projects designed by architects such as Le Corbusier, and Albert Mayer.
The city tops the list of Indian State Territories with the highest per capita income in the country. Located in the fringes of the Shivalik range at 30° 44' 14 N latitude and 76° 47' 14 E longitude. Haryana has been a part of the Kuru region in North India. It was founded in the year 1966, when Punjab was divided into modern Punjab and Haryana. It has Delhi on all the three laterals. Chandigarh, which is administered as the union territory is the capital for Punjab as well. It is believed that this is the place that Hinduism came into existence as the epic battle of Kurukshetra and the battle of Panipat was fought here. It is located between 27° 37' to 30°35' N latitude and between 74°28' and 77°36' E longitude. The physical area is spread over 44,000 square kilometers. This state has contributed immensely towards the Green Revolution which has helped our countries in many ways.
Kurukshetra is called as the Land of Holy Legends, as it is mentioned that the great battle Mahabharata took place here only. The Sri Krishna Museum in Kurukshetra features remarkable stone carvings of the poses of Lord Krishna and other deities. There are miniatures, palm leaf etchings and other forms of art that one gets to see here. The capital city was the first to introduce town planning and it is a fun loving place for tourists.
