Tarkarli – A Land of Silver Beaches
Tarkarli is a famous tourist destination in the coastal plains of Maharashtra, India. It is well knownf for its beautiful and clean silver beaches which stretch for miles. The “shuru” trees dotting the seashore, the wide rivers, tiny hamlets and beautiful sailboats make the scenery of Tarkarli picture perfect. The village is also famed for its festival hosted during ramnavami every year with dramas in the Marpurush temple. The festival draws a lot of crowds from nearby villages and other States as well. Fishing can be enjoyed here throughout the year and dolphins can also be sighted. For all its beauty and grandeur it is rightfully titled the “Queen Beach” of Sindudurg.
Tourists can enjoy their stay in the newly built M.T.D.C cottages. The stay is comfortable and they also offer recreational facilities. M.T.D.C has also built new houseboat facilities. There are two houseboats by the names of Hiranyakeshi and Karli. These luxurious houseboats are equipped with all basic amenities.

Scuba diving here will lead you to the beauty hidden beneath the Arabian Sea. Tourists can also enjoy special Malvani food with fish items such as “kombadi vada” being a specialty.
Tourists can also visit the Sindhudurg fort built in the 17th century. Five kilometers away the Padmagad Fort is also an important historical landmark. The Dharampur Lake with its boating facility also makes for an enjoyable destination. The rock garden on the rocky shore of Malvan is also very picturesque. The Kolamb beach with all its solitude and beauty also makes for a marvelous and quite visit. The Karli backwaters at the Karli creek are also one of nature’s many wonders which make for a beautiful visit. Tourists must visit Deobagh (God’s garden) which is a beautiful overgrown village and the local fishermen offer boat rides from where dolphins can be sighted. Sea fod lovers can enjoy freshly caught sea food at very good prices. Deobagh makes for a beautiful afternoon spent lazing under the sun and near the sea.
