THE CHEERFUL LAND OF INDIA
Chandigarh, a union territory of India, is perhaps, the only state which serves as a capital of two states, Haryana and Punjab. The name translates as the ‘ Fort of Chandi’. Chandi is a goddess of the Hindus. It is the first planned city of India and is known internationally for its architecture and urban design. The city has projects designed by architects such as Le Corbusier, and Albert Mayer.
The city tops the list of Indian State Territories with the highest per capita income in the country. Located in the fringes of the Shivalik range at 30° 44' 14 N latitude and 76° 47' 14 E longitude.
