“Srisailam – A Hill Town Getaway”

Srisailam a holy hill town located in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located in the banks of the River Krishna. It is located in a beautiful natural setting and is popular for ancient temples, a wildlife sanctuary and a dam. As a prime hill top location it offers beautiful views of the surroundings, flora and scenic wildlife sanctuaries.
Sikharam is the highest spot in the hilly regions of Srisailam and offers breathtaking and majestic natural beauty. A beautiful temple is also nestled amidst the scenic beauty. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva is known as The Sikhareswara Swamy temple. The idol is believed to be the Lord of Sikharam. There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha in Sikharam. Another famous temple is The Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy Temple. It is located at a height of about four hundred and fifty seven meters on the southern bank of River Krishn. ... the four cardinal directions. The four gateways are Tripuranthakam, Siddavatham, Alampur and Umameshwaram. The four gates have different Gods and Goddesses presiding over them. There are also four secondary gateways. The Akka Mahadevi Cave is also a place of interest. It houses a natural Shiva ling and was believed to have been worshipped by the Guru Mhadev in the 12th Century. The caves can be reached via motorboats.
The artificial Srisailam Dam is situated amidst beautiful scenery and natural greenry and makes for a popular site for tourists. It is five hundred and twelve meters across Krishna River. Animal lovers can also visit one of the largest tiger reserves in India, the Srisailam Sanctuary. A number of wild animals like tigers, leopards and cheetahs can be seen here. Crocodiles are also breed here. The Sanctuay is covered in forest and bamboo thickets.
The Nallamala forest ranges with densely wooded trees and diverse flora and fauna lies close to the Srisailam hills.The trails here provide excellent trekking and hiking opportunities.
