The Monuments Men borrows its storyline from the works of Edsel Robert M in Nazi Thieves, The Greatest Treasure Hunt in History and Allied Heroes. It is a movie that narrates the desire by art historians and curators to save priceless art pieces from destruction during WW II. It is co-written, directed and produced by the famed George Clooney as a blend of drama and comedy.

The responsibility to rescue these pieces of art is in the hands of a platoon made up of historians and curators. They are referred to as Monuments, Fine Arts and Achieves Program. The producers insist that the final product will be a thriller and sufficient reward for the curiosity it has generated.

Some of the shots for this movie were done Sherman Oaks, California and Phoenix Theatre. The plot illustrates the magnanimous task that lies in the hands of museum directors and historians where they have to complete a dangerous rescue. They are not armed and must overcome the danger within enemy territory to rescue the art work. Viewers can expect to enjoy the movie in early 2014.

The debate ignited by the delay in release revolves around the inability to enter it for nomination in Academy Awards. The director has insisted that his aim was not to favor its nomination for Oscars. It is argued that he is busy doubling as the director for Tomorrowland that is under production by Disney.

Clooney plays an additional role as an actor, besides being the director. He is the character by the name George Stout and is cast alongside Bill Murray, Dimitri Leonidas and Bob Balaban. The collaboration has brought together three excellent players in the film industry. They are Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox as distributors and 22 Babelsberg. Clooney also combines with Heslov Grant to complete screen play as Phedon Papamichael does cinematography.

The Monuments Men acts as a historical narration of a parallel battle that was fought alongside WW II but not with the deadly weapons.
