India’s premier cultural institution, the first multi-venue, multi-purpose cultural centre to be built in South Asia – the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) or NCPA Mumbai was inaugurated in 1969. Since its inception it has been committed to promoting and preserving the country’s rich and vibrant traditions, be it music, dance or theatre. NCPA Mumbai also believes in encouraging and promoting new and inventive work in the field of the performing arts.

Located in the heart of Mumbai’s downtown business district, NCPA Mumbai has five modern theatres, a photography gallery and extensive archival and library facilities. It presents more than 500 events each year that include all major art forms from dance, drama, art, comedy to theatre, photography, exhibitions, workshops and much more.
Artists, regulars and the media together recognize it to be among Asia's leading locations for the performing arts.

The NCPA is also home to the SOI. India’s first fully professional symphony orchestra! The result of an ongoing collaboration between the NCPA and the internationally acclaimed Kazakh violinist, ...
... Marat Bisengaliev, who serves as the orchestra's Music Director. It is India's foremost western classical music ensemble.

Some of the best in their craft have been handpicked from across the world to play to the tunes of acclaimed Conductors. What makes this experience even more exclusive is the fact that this season is an all Beethoven concert. Where else in this city or country would you get the opportunity to listen to the grandeur of Beethoven? Tickets are now fast selling among theatre noirs because it is widely being recognized as what reviewers are calling a ‘’one-of-a-kind experience”.

NCPA Mumbai has a very noble vision that would delight artists and performing art lovers alike across the country. They would like to provide leadership on a national level as India’s premier performing arts, research and training centre. They would do this by the promotion of excellence and the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage through the presentation of Indian and international art forms.

As far as music is concerned, the NCPA Mumbai has promoted all kinds of music including the rich and cultural heritage of Indian music, the variety it processes as well as the opulence of western classical music or any other forms of world music. Over the years, NCPA has promoted major strands of Indian music, including folk, Carnatic and Hindustani music. Even today it continues to feature a wide gamut of performers across a range of genres. It has always been an important platform for promoting music with its well equipped range of auditoriums.

As far theatre and film is concerned, the NCPA Mumbai has always been in the forefront. It has always been committed to bringing you the best in Theatre and Film each year, the richest of plays and film. NCPA Mumbai brings more than 120 theatre shows every year. In the field of cinemas, it includes tie ups and collaborations with all major art and commercial film festivals. Online booking is always far more convenient and it’s the best way to save precious time and energy.
