Creating Lovely Backdrops For Unique Events

Anyone who has attended a live performance on stage, even if only once, has probably noticed a stage backdrop, a painted curtain that hangs in the back of the space to indicate scenery. Backdrops are an important part of decorating a stage for achieving a professional setup.
Backdrops are commonly used in photographic studios and movie theaters. To create a desired location or place, photographers, movie directors, and producers use backdrops to convert their studios. In the hands of a skillful artist, a stage backdrop can convince the spectator that he has been transported to a desert, an open vista or the interior of an opulent mansion.
Movie and stage backdrops are pieces of cloth that partially or fully cover a stage, and come in many different colors, types, and sizes.
Given the improvements in technology, such as graphic design software like Photoshop or Gimp, it is no longer your father's backdrops. The simple cloth of yesteryear has given way to sophisticated computer produced stage backdrops depicting flashier scenes such as figures flying through space or a sprinter in front of a packed stadium. ...
... In great demand are events backdrops, Christmas backdrops, and wedding backdrops. Wedding backdrops have grown in popularity as a wedding backdrop creates and sustains a setting regardless of what the weather conditions might be on the day of the ceremony. The only limit on a stage or event backdrop is the imagination of the graphic designer.
Three steps are involved in creating a stage backdrop: determining the type of scene or image needing to be portrayed in the background of a stage or photo studio; creating the design using computer based graphic design software; then, after creation and design are finalized, painting of the stage backdrop by the artist after sizing the fabric, a process that seals the fibers. A typical opaque stage backdrop may require several choices of sizing, and many scene shops use flame retardant. The artist completes the process using an airbrush to paint the stage backdrop.
Once completed, the backdrop can be staged using long poles and frames to ensure that it covers the stage entirely. The magnificent and incredibly realistic sceneries that often elicit appreciative oohs and aahs from an audience is the appropriate response to the artistry and professionalism behind a stage or events backdrop installation.
Given the work and talent behind the creation of a backdrop, there is clearly more to it than meets the eye.
