Fine Paintings To Remind Us Of Finer Times Gone By

To appreciate fine art is to appreciate the greater things in life. London has much to offer in fine art - the number of galleries offering the paintings of renowned artists for public viewing is numerous. Galleries allow us to spend time gazing upon these masterpieces and appreciating their sheer beauty. Some galleries cater for viewing and if your heart falls for a certain piece then for purchasing.
Fine art has been defined as a piece that has been created purely for aesthetic purposes and is appreciated for its `beauty and meaningfulness’. In a world filled with instant and disposable goods, fine art takes us back to our roots, to a time when things of beauty were created to last generations. It reminds of us the good in humans, the splendour of our world and most importantly makes us think. It makes us think of the good that is to be found and the creative abilities of humans.
Referring to a type of work, ‘fine’ denotes a time when people took the time to interpret the world, a time when thinkers tried to help others understand the world they lived in. Be it prose, poetry or fine paintings, London ...
... was at some point in history a hub of creativity with an abundance of great work being brought forth. It harkens to a time when humans took time to get to know one another, to bond, to create together, to leave for the future great works which would in time help modern humans remember their humanity.
Nowadays, we create but not so much the pieces that will last but new innovations aimed at making something ‘better’ or more ‘efficient’. We create to make things smoother, less time consuming, easier and so now live in a world of disposable goods. Very few of us take time to put paper to pen and write down our thoughts or write a letter. We create on photoshop and no longer on canvas. That is why the fine paintings and works of days gone by are so valuable and so appreciated, as they take us back to a time when the world was indeed harder but simpler and slower in pace. Some works simply make us stop and think, something that we are all rapidly forgetting to do.
Simply viewing and better still owning a fine painting will help us remember who we are, where we come from and is indeed an oasis in this very fast paced world.
