The Visual History Of Photographing Pregnancy
Pregnancy is the celebration of womanhood, the springing forth of new life. It is during this time that the union of a married couple bears fruit. Pregnancy is such a very special event that couples turn to maternity photography in order to capture this wonderful time in their life.
In the early part of the 1900's, pregnant women were advised to stay at home for two reasons. First, they were expected to rest; they did nothing save for some light household chores. Second, they were to avert the eyes of the public. It was not until the 1990's when a Hollywood actress portraying a pregnant character appeared on the front cover of a magazine. After that, maternity photography became popular among women.
Photographers say that capturing pregnant women is one of the most precious moments they can have. Taking photographs of the different stages of pregnancy until the baby is born is called visual history. It is a story in itself, and it shows the wonder of how new life grows in the womb and finally is born into the world. Pregnancy is a cause of celebration indeed, and visual history photography helps record the ...
... different milestones of the baby's development.
Maternity portraits are not just about women posing to capture a celebrated moment in their pregnancy. These can also include both man and woman in the photo. Some photographers observe that such photo sessions are as much a tender moment for men as for women. More often than not, a man suggests for a portrait where he kisses the tummy of his wife.
In Toronto, maternity photographer understands how important maternity portraits are and considers even the smallest details. The photographer instructs a woman how to pose so that her tummy is captured beautifully. When a man joins the portrait, it is important for him to depict the image that he wants to have as the head of the family.
Apart from various studios in Toronto, maternity photography entails photographers to have a keen eye for every element on the portrait. This is because it is creating a visual history of art, a man and a woman's portrait of life and love.
