... which forms an integral part of their pellet-forming mills in Bury St. Edmunds. Uniformity of pellet size was inconsistent and engineers from Ralspeed determined that this problem could be solved with the provision of improved control over the worm-feeder's 200kW motor. Our engineers showed that, by replacing the existing DOL starter with one of our variable speed drives, performance could be dramatically enhanced.

As the proposed motor was large and therefore represented a large investment, BOCM PAULS were naturally cautious that the recommended solution would prove effective. Ralspeed Lt working alongside Hayley Drives Ltd were quick to offer our variable speed drive hire service to allow the company to test the product on a trial basis. BOCM PAULS took this opportunity, also taking advantage of our energy recording units to monitor in real time the energy savings via a clear graphical display. After using our hire service, the manager of BOCM PAULS said that the refurbished mill was "now getting excellent product uniformity and productivity" and also noted that "the Ralspeed energy recorder has confirmed that we’ve significantly reduced the power consumption of the feeder, which will mean a very welcome reduction in our energy bills.”
