Overcast skies can present problems when you are taking pictures, so exclude them from the image frame. If too much gray sky is in your picture, it will look muted and bland. Pictures in black and white are better if shot under overcast skies. However, if there's a beautiful blue sky, use it as often as you want to; however, you should still be aware of the light.

Play with the manual white balance feature. When you are taking shots inside, you can get a yellow tint due to light bulbs. Instead of spending the time to fix the lighting, you can just change the white balance from your camera. This should, definitely, give a more professional appearance to your pictures.

Always keep your batteries charged; you have to be ready at all times to take the perfect shot. Digital cameras use up lots of power in a short period of time so make sure the battery is charged fully before you start taking pictures. To be extra sure you don't miss a critical shot, take a spare set of batteries with you and change over when needed.

While traveling you should take as many pictures as possible. These photographs might feel unimportant, or even a bit silly, as you're taking the pictures; but they can add to your memories and help recreate an interesting story. Street signs, bus tickets and the currency of the country that you visit can make for great photographs and memories.
