Just before 2013 came to a close, the annual list of Ward's 10 Best Engines for 2014 was released. On it was the Chrysler Group's 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine. While this is a great honor for Chrysler, it is certainly not a complete surprise; as this is the fourth year in a row the auto manufacturer has made the list. According to Ward's Auto, the Chrysler 3.0 liter EcoDiesel engine made the list because of its ability to power large vehicles with ease. If you want a surprisingly quiet, smooth ride in a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ram 1500, this engine is an excellent choice. In addition, the fuel economy is considered impressive, as some of the editors at Ward's Auto were able to get upwards of 24 mpg with city driving.

The EcoDiesel engine gets 240 horsepower at 3600 rpm, along with 420 lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm. And you can’t forget the “eco” part of this engine; the exhaust is considered ultra-clean due to the latest emission-control technology. The fuel injection system also reduces noise, emissions, and fuel consumption.

This engine was not the only Chrysler engine making it to Ward's 10 Best Engines list, the 500e Battery-Electric Drive System from the Fiat 500e also made the list, showing that this manufacturer is able to excel at everything from electric vehicle technology to eco-friendly diesel parts made for larger vehicles.
