It is useful to have your HIP handy even before you think of selling it. It is not a mere marketing copy used to sell. It minimises any delay or extra expense to both the buyer as well as the seller.

There is a property information questionnaire made available, known as PIQ. The HIP may also incorporate two seller's questionnaire forms - Home Contents Form and Home Use Form. HIP packs contain documents that provide the buyer with vital information about the home and must be provided by the seller or the estate agent. An energy performance certificate is another vital document that is present with in the HIP, known popularly as EPC. Its purpose is to record how energy-efficient a property is as a building.
