We are very pleased to announce that we are receiving the extremely rare, Single Oak Project Bourbon, made by Buffalo Trace on Friday 2/28/14. There are only 192 barrels being made. The first barrel was gone before these even hit the market (presumably to their friends and family). However we are receiving an entire case of the Single Oak Project from the 2nd barrel! This is the most coveted barrel made since the first one was never even released for sale!

Buffalo Trace is known for their incredibly distinguished portfolio that includes such luminaries as Pappy Van Winkle bourbon (perhaps the rarest of all bourbons). However, The Single Oak Project is Buffalo Trace's most unique and inventive undertaking yet. The project began with 96 specifically selected American Oak trees that varied by their growth location and their age. Each tree was then cut into two distinct parts - top portion and bottom portion. This gave way to 192 distinctive pieces of tree. A single barrel meant for aging whiskey was produced from each of these 192 pieces. Each of these barrels was ...
... then charred differently to produce 192 unique flavors.

These single oak barrels were then filled with different whiskey variations at various entry proofs and aged in a multitude of varying aging styles. This experiment allows whiskey connoisseurs to directly compare the taste differentials created by these 7 different variables. As a result there are 192 variations of these unique bourbons and only 192 barrels produced.
