Google has finally announced the latest version of Android operating system 4.3 together with the launch of it Nexus 7 tablet. This new version is named “Jelly Bean” and is the third version after android 4.1 and 4.2. This version has come up nine months after 4.2. Though this version does not have a big makeover but it has a few major changes from its earlier version. Android 4.3 is rolled out to Google’s Nexus range and it brings strong features for both the developers as well as the end users. In this article let us take a look at its major features:

Bluetooth Smart Ready: Devices using this OS will now be able to support low energy Bluetooth accessories like Pedometers, Thermometers and Heart rate monitors. Users can sync the devices easily without affecting the battery usage.

Restricted profiles: Google has added multi user profiles and this has enhanced the user experience. With this feature the users can now restrict app usage and content consumption on their android devices. This will help parents to keep a control on what games or applications their kids have access to on their tablets.

Dial pad autocomplete: This autocomplete feature is now added and it suggests contact names and phone numbers when the users start typing something. Though this is not a new feature but devices running Android did not have it. The feature can be easily initiated by changing the application settings and enabling it.

Simplified setup wizard: Android 4.3 supports corrections to user inputs to the device and this has helped the user to change the information that was keyed while signing in the device. Google offers a faster switching from lock screen in case of multiple users.

Notification access: This is an important feature and with this the users can easily control and interact with the status bar notifications. The users can now control how notifications are pushed to primary and connected devices.

Location detection: Location can be easily detected through Wi Fi without turning on the Wi Fi all the time.

Easy text input: Improved algorithm for tap typing recognition has made text input easier while chatting and composing emails. This updated feature has also added lower latency input for joysticks and gamepad buttons.

Bluetooth AVRCP: This feature helps the device using Android 4.3 to sync with Bluetooth enabled car stereos and allows the stereos to display metadata like song name when the music is streamed from an android device.

Local language support: Google has introduced the support of native local language to its operating system for Africans, Swahili, Zulu, Amharic and Hindi. Hebrew, Arabic and other RTLs are also supported in the settings, home screen, people, phone and keep applications.
