There are many World of Warcraft guides out there that teach you many things. Some of these guides are great at what they do, others leave you wanting more. Many of the leveling guides leave one key factor out when they discuss how to quickly level your characters.

Rested Experience

One of the fastest ways to level your character is with rested experience. Rested experience gives you double the normal XP per mob you kill. It doesn't take a genius to understand how this makes the leveling process faster.

Some of you may think that the best way to use this experience bonus is to grind on some monsters around your level, but this is actually a bad way to use it. When you grind, you are only getting the XP from the kills. Grinding is great if you really had a need for gold, it is one of the slowest ways to level.

Rested experience is best paired up with questing, as you get the bonus experience per kill along with quest XP. While questing, you will naturally be killing mobs, so there is little need to stay in one spot to kill things (unless a quest has you do so.)

... will also stretch out the amount of time that it lasts. It is not uncommon for a full bonus of 150% to last from 70-74 before running out. If you play less often, then it could easily last you until you hit 80.

If you are considering leveling a second character, you can guarantee that he is always played with rested experience. Create the character as you normally would, log him out at an inn and start gaining this easy bonus. It takes roughly a week to maximise the bonus (a full level and a half), but you will need to log on the character after a week to achieve this as a game mechanic will slow down the gain after the 100% area.
