Boils or Skin Abscesses are localized infections caused by bacteria or toxins that infect deep skin tissue. Furunvlosis is repeated out breaks of boils. While in the navy I helped the doctor on our submarine lance a boil one of my fellow sailors had. I never have felt more sorry for someone in my life. The boil was about the size of a golf ball. Even with pain killers I had to help hold him down while the doctor worked. It was not a pretty site, and I don't recommend it for anyone. After a week of bed rest, my friend finely came back to duty. We all asked him if he had gotten enough rest. He looked at us like, we're all crazy and said that he had not gotten a wink of sleep the whole time due to how painful the boil was.

Antibiotic's are an option but if the infection is due to toxins well do little to relive the infection. I never recommend antibiotic's without a doctor prescription due to the problem of over use and the risk of other bacteria's in your body becoming resistant to this kind of medication.
