In this video, Michael’s puppy, Hudson, gets a swim lesson from Julie. Hudson had too much fun playing and started to limp. His vet said the best exercise for him would be in the water. Swimming is great low-impact exercise for dogs--just like it is for humans. What's more, it tires out puppies so that they cause less trouble!

In the video, Julie gives lots of fun dog facts for kids about dogs swimming. For example, only about 20% of the dogs she works with know right away how to swim--even the Golden Retrievers, who are known as swimmers. Many of the dogs swim with two legs–not four.

Hudson was a fast learner, as you will see. He swam with four legs immediately and looked like he was having a lot of fun. He swam better once his “mom” (Michael’s mom) got in the water with him and Hudson even jumped off the ramp to swim to her. This surprised Julie a lot!
