As technology advances the same infrastructure can deliver different service types. For the consumers this is great news because now the cost of setting up the infrastructure is shared by more than one service type. This means the cost of each individual service can come down. And the cost benefit is not the only benefit that convergence brings about. The convergence is the result of an improvement in the technologies as well and the quality of service goes up too.

Let us take for example the convergence of three communications based service that are now widely regarded as a necessity. The phone, the internet and the cable TV. All of these require one or two way transfer of data. And when the internet moves to a broadband level of service this two way transfer of data can be done at an amazingly fast rate. So what does that do to the phone service that shares the same service infrastructure? Well the quality of the phone service goes up a lot and the cost of the phone service goes down a lot. This is the reason why broadband phone service from a quality service provider is so popular.

So how low does the cost ...
... go? Well how about unlimited talk time, within your country or region, for a fixed monthly cost which is not high at all. The fact that the internet bandwidth costs lesser than did the dedicated wires which the traditional phones rely on makes such service deals possible.

All that is great but you may be concerned that migration from one solution type to another is not fun, specially with a phone service because of issues of having to change the number and also getting familiar with yet another new device. But that has been taken care of as well. You can continue to use the same phone and even the same number. Which makes the transition painless and free. Of course you need not just enjoy the broadband phone service alone, you can also enjoy a high speed broadband service when you use the internet.
