India Gate

It is the most iconic and popular landmark of New Delhi; a historical monument built in honor of the Indian soldiers who died in the First World War and the Afghan war of 1919. Lotus Temple

Red Fort

Located opposite Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi, this historical fortress speaks of the majestic past of the Mughal Empire and the power they held. The grand construction of this fort took 10 years to complete. When the country achieved its freedom, the first flag was raised in the air from the Red Fort and till date, the tradition is followed on every Independence Day of India. Chandni Chowk

Made by the mighty Shah Jahan, this market is the busiest and most crowded retail spaces of India today. In English, the meaning of its name is “Moonlight Square”. From clothes, shoes, jewelries, accessories, and fabrics to gadgets and electronics, you will find a line of shops and stalls, for almost everything in the congested narrow streets of Old Delhi.

In contrast to the modern look of New Delhi, Chandni Chowk gives the travelers a glimpse of the ancient era of the city. The place is also known for its street food all around the world. The best way to experience the charm of Chandni Chowk is to travel on foot!

In addition to the above list, there are many other tourist places near Delhi that merit a visit including the seventh wonder of the world – the Taj Mahal, Bharatpur Birds’ Sanctuary, Sariska Tiger Reserve, Kankwari Fort, and the ancient ruins of the Lord Shiva Temple.
