The Paolo Soprani, also referred to as the “Old Grey”, is an Irish accordion that is held in high regard by the traditional musicians in Ireland during the 1940s and 1950s. However, it was taken off the market by its makers which lead to great disappointment among the traditional music lovers. Following guidelines will help to learn to pay the instrument:
• Sit on a chair and support the accordion on your left knee. It is best to hang it from your shoulders with the straps that are usually provided with the musical instrument. These straps are adjustable so that you can adjust them according to your height and comfort level.
• The “melody side” or the reads of the instruments that produces music should be on your right side. The keys resemble those of a piano. The white reads are notes ranging from A to G while the black once are sharps and flats.
• The buttons on the left of the instrument are bass buttons. Use the fingers on your left hand to play them. As the buttons are not visible, the once that are used the maximum, like A flat fundamental bass and C fundamental, are marked prominently.
