Whenever a party is planned many efforts are invested into the decoration. As the decoration is what makes the party beautiful, colorful or elegant. Many people hire expensive decorators and designers who come up with creative themes for birthdays, graduation parties, engagements, and anniversaries and most commonly for weddings. All of the mentioned occasions and many more contain different kinds of decorations. Some will have more balloons, or flowers or some will include drapes and curtains. But all of these decorations have one thing in common and that is Bomboniere boxes.

Small trinket sized boxes that contain sweets or gifts are called Bomboniere boxes. According to the ancient European history these boxes were only a part of royal weddings. The royal guests would normally receive a beautiful porcelain box with gem stones on it and inside there would be sugar cubes as a gift. The sugar cubes back in the day were considered to be a sign of wealth as sugar was very expensive. When economical changes took place and sugar prices went down the gifts were replaced with sugar coated Jordanian almonds. This was called ...
... confetti. Commonly the Bomboniere boxes contained five sugar cubes or almonds. These five represented the five wishes the guests would give to the bride and groom. The five wishes are health, happiness, prosperity, wealth and fertility. These five wishes were considered to be wholesome and complete for the new marrying couple.

As the times kept changing the families who could not afford royal presents but still wanted to carry on the tradition started giving candy and sugar coated dry fruits that they could afford. In some Asian countries the tradition still stands the same as soon as the wedding ceremony is over the groom’s family distribute fancy tulles or pouches filled with sugar and salt coated dry fruits. Some even have candies. These Bomboniere boxes are a symbol of celebration and sweet is distributed to mark the occasion.

In the modern times the brides and grooms follow an extensive process of finding their favorite Bomboniere boxes. These can be the traditional almonds or dry fruits, candies or according to modern practice chocolates, cookies, liquor bottles, mints and much more. If the bride and groom like to keep something that is not the traditional sweet stuff then many utility items are available to include in the weddings. For example table mats, mittens, tea coasters, bottle openers, salt and peppershakers, candles and many more items.

For a personalized gift that will make all guests happy the bride and groom can make an audio CD with their favorite songs, a video message for all guests in a DVD or picture with messages in a frame, a frame with their favorite quotations, or create customized Bomboniere boxes. The ones available can also be personalized with initials, names or messages from the bride and groom. These messages will surely put a smile on all guests’ faces and the hosts can appreciate them for their love and support.
