Google Needs To Fix Android To Keep It Alive
The time has come for Google to take some serious steps to keep its OS, Android surviving as things are seriously going out of control. It is world’s most popular smart phone OS and will predictably stay at this position in coming future too. But in many ways, it is turning messy and appears to be a platform raised by undisciplined and unpredictable people. On the other hand, Apple’s iOS is still a quit obedient, completely neat and disciplined OS.Android can lose its current position if Google does not fix the core issues of its open source smart phone mobile operating system.
Openness is the real attraction of Android. Openness turns it a beautiful mobile operating system which can run on a variety of hardware. The software can be customized the way developers want. But many times, Android appears to be the victim of its own success. Its beauty has turned a cruse for it. It is the outcome of openness so that Android is always defamed as world’s most fragmented mobile operating system. This issue keeps stopping Android from attaining full potential. Many Android developers are upset with the issue of fragmentation. ...
... This issue keeps making the life difficult for Android developers.
Google owns the OS, but the displeasing part of this ownership is that it does not care about it. Google’s carelessness for the OS gives freedom to OEMs yielding chaos. They are free to use low-end hardware, touch screen displays, processors and other components, and power all those things through the Google’s mobile OS. So the unruliness of mobile manufacturers in terms of using a wide variety of processors and graphic-combinations causes fragmentation. Not all Android powered devices do support all Android apps. Some smart phones fall short of graphic-support while others deliver poor processing speed. There are tens of other issues that fragmentation has borne.
Almost all major Android OEMs tweak the original OS and affect its natural functionality. It further affects Android developers as they have to optimize their apps to run on tens of types of screen resolutions, processors, and sound hardware.
Not all OEMs do upgrade Android to their devices. However, Google keeps releasing the latest version of the OS, but there are handfuls of Android mobile manufacturers who upgrade the OS, whereas others either keep delaying it or they never do so.
Android’s world will scatter if Google continues to ignore fragmentation related issues caused by mobile manufacturers. If Google wants to lead the domain of smart phone in future too, it needs to effort for keeping the platform unified. It actually needs to fix Android at lots of places.
