There are certain set of rules that need to be followed by the Mississippi Notary Public. Becoming a notary public implies that witnessing the signing of the documents and asking each party for taking oath to authenticate the documents.

The concept of notary public dates back to the 1500s during the time of the Roman Empire. They were chosen either by the Pope or the Archbishop. All the notaries of the early 1500s were well-versed in almost all languages and were well aware of all the principles of law. Whereas becoming a Mississippi notary is a piece of cake if you follow the correct procedure. Let us have a look at this procedure.

Qualifications:

A person willing to become a Mississippi notary should qualify the following:

• Be 18 years or above
• Should be a permanent resident of the state or should be residing in the state 1 month immediately preceding the filing of the form.
• Be a literate in English
• Submit an application to lieutenant Governor of the state without any illicit fact.

• Be approved by two residents of the state who are above 18 years of age.

Let us have a look at the comprehensive process of becoming a notary public.

Step 1: Testing

o Prepare well for the test and take the test.
o You can pay the testing fee which is $45 and the application fee, $30 together at the end of the test. Once you have paid you have given the test. See your results which are immediately after the test.
o Print or save the answers if you want because once you leave the display page all will be lost except for the score which will be stored in the database.
o If you pass the test, you have cleared step 1. Congratulation! Now get your application printed.

Step 2: Application

Your application needs to be approved by two permanent residents of Utah who are 18 years or above. They should clearly mention their names, addresses and signatures on the application form.

Step 3: bonding

Purchase a Mississippi notary bonds from an insurance company which may cost you around $50.

State employees can do away with Risk Bonds only.

Take the oath of office in the presence of a notary.

Step 4: mailing

Mail the application, bond and the oath to the Notary Office:

It will take around one to two weeks for the entire process.

Check your particulars on your certificate.

Sign your certificate in the presence of a notary

Take a copy of your certificate to any vendor providing notarial seals and make sure the seal is in accordance with the UCA 46-1-16.
