The Physiology Of Plant
The physiology plant is a subdiscipline of botany devoted to the study of the functioning of organs and plant tissues of plants.
The field work of this discipline is closely related to the anatomy of plants , the ecology (interactions with the environment), phytochemistry ( biochemistry of plants), cell biology and molecular biology .
The botanical physiologists studying the fundamental processes such as photosynthesis , the respiration , the plant nutrition , the functions of plant hormones , the tropisms , the nastic movements , the photojournalist , the photomorphogenesis , the circadian rhythms , environmental stress physiology, the germination of the seeds , the dormancy function of stomata and perspiration , these two last part of the relationship of the plants with water.
The field of plant physiology includes the study of all the internal activities of the plants - chemical and physical processes associated with life . This study involves many levels of size and time scale. At the smallest scale interactions are molecular in photosynthesis and diffusion inside the water, minerals and nutrients. A large ...
... scale are the development , seasonality , dormancy control and reproductive . The field of plant physiology as a discipline can be divided into several main areas of research.
First, the phytochemical that studies the diversity of chemical compounds that occur to function and survive (items not found in other organisms). Since you can not move, must be defended chemically herbivores, pathogens and competition from other plants, for that produce toxins and compounds that cause bad odor or taste. Other products defend them against diseases, to living in drought and prepare for hibernation. Still others use them to attract pollinators or herbivores to spread the seeds mature.
The photosynthesis requires a wide range of pigments , enzymes and other compounds to work.
Second, the study of biological and chemical processes of cells . Plant cells have some characteristics that distinguish them from animals, which give rise to major differences in behavior and response to animal life. For example, plant cells possess a cell wall which restricts its shape and therefore limits their flexibility and mobility. They also contain chlorophyll , a compound that interacts with light in a way that allows them to make their own food instead of eating other living things.
Third, studies the interactions between cells, tissues and organs. The various cells and tissues are physically and chemically specialized to perform specific functions.
Fourth, studying how plants control or regulate its internal functions, such as phytohormones produced in a plant part to alert the other party cells should produce a response. Light-sensitive compounds that respond to the duration of the night for the plant to flourish in the proper season, a phenomenon known as photojournalism . The fruit ripening and leaf loss in winter, functions in part controlled by the gas ethylene produced by the plant itself.
Finally, plant physiology studies how plants respond to conditions and changes in the environment field known as ecophysiology .
stress by water loss, changes in air chemistry, or crowding with other plants can cause changes in operation. These modifications can be affected by genetic factors, chemical and physical.
