Blackberry Phone Bid Denied By Samsung Mobile Also

Samsung is not interested in obtaining RIM, and denied the claim by a technology blog after sending RIM shares going up more than 10%. Samsung’s spokesman James Chung said, “We haven't considered acquiring the firm and are not interested in." An unknown source had been cited by the Boy Genius Report and said that Jim Balsillie, co-Chief Executive of RIM was meeting with firms, and is either interested in licensing software of purchasing RIM fully or partially.
From a long time, takeover speculations about RIM were in rage. Bid was considered by a number of big brands such as Microsoft, Nokia and Amazon. The worth of the aforesaid Canadian firm is around $9bn, which was at peak in 2008 having the value of $80bn. Amazon does not make mobile phones, but the rumors were very much in limelight about its interest in handsets. It has already launched Kindle Fire Tablet in November, so there is no difficulty in launching the mobile phones. Analysts still believe that takeover by an Android manufacturer could make sense.
Craig Cartier of Frost and Sullivan said, “To be fair, RIM's fall may be more ...
... representative of the meteoric rise of Android, as smart phones move to the mass market, and less representative of RIM's weaknesses.” “If Samsung (or any other Android partner) were to integrate RIM's enterprise services like Blackberry Messenger into their offering, they would achieve instant differentiation in the increasingly-monochrome Android space.” “Not to mention gaining a brand which, despite its recent misfortune, still enjoys a loyal following and has seen recent gains in developing markets globally.” There was no comment from a spokesman of RIM.
Takeover overtures from potential buyers were turned down by RIM, as its founders Jim Balsillie and fellow RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis, are still trying to fix the problem without any help. A role of board chairman is also being shared by the pair. After getting a lot of pressure from investors, a committee is made up because of the monthly report regarding the changes to odd structure. Michael Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie still talk about the upcoming BlackBerry 10 phones and upgrades to the PlayBook tablet, despite these have already been delayed many times. Quite obviously, they are not at all interested in selling the company.
