For a long time man has been dreaming about producing his exact replica. If we can produce what we want and when we want, then it seems like we can control of creation and balance the whole world. Man’s wish came true with the development of the genetic engineering. Man acquired the tool for duplication, and that is cloning.

For past few years we heard a lot about cloning animals like sheep and mice. It’s a really interesting to know about cloning and the process related to it. Cloning can create an organism that is an exact copy of its donor. This means that every single bit of DNA is the same between the two.

If we have to explain cloning in simple steps, then it will be as follows. The first step will be to take a piece of DNA that contains the gene to be cloned. This gene will be put into a DNA molecule called a vector to produce a recombined DNA molecule. The vector will carry the gene to the host cell. Once entered into the host cell, the vector multiplies and makes similar copies of itself and also the gene. Now, it is the turn of the host cell to divide. When the host cell divides, copies of the recombined ...
... DNS molecules and the gene will also divide. After many cell divisions, a clone of host cells is produced. Each cell will have at least one copy of the recombined DNS, and the genes are cloned.

The most famous sheep in the modern history, named dolly, was born in 1997. It was Ian Wilmut and a group of Scottish scientists that carried out the cloning procedure. They scraped some skin cells from the udder of the first sheep, and then took an unfertilized egg from the second sheep. They removed the nucleus from the egg to prevent it from looking different. They developed the skin cells in the egg and it was a success. That’s the story about Dolly, the cloned sheep. Though Dolly’s birth marked a scientific breakthrough, it also questioned man’s ability to clone himself. The question raised after cloning become successful is, who is next?

What are the different types of cloning? Gene cloning, reproductive cloning and therapeutic cloning are the three different types of cloning. When gene cloning creates copies of genes or segments of a DNA, reproductive cloning produces copies of the whole animal.

One of the advanced forms of cloning is the therapeutic cloning. This is a process by which a person’s DNA is used to grow an embryonic clone. The embryonic stem cells produced from therapeutic cloning could form the basis for repairing damaged organs. They can grow replacement organs like heart, liver and skin. They can also be used to grow neurons to cure people suffering from Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or Rett syndrome. In therapeutic cloning, first the DNA of the sick person will be extracted. This DNA will be inserted into an enucleated donor egg. Then the egg will undergo divisions just like the fertilized egg and forms an embryo. I am interested in watching programs related to human evolution and modern technologies to create exact sample of human beings on my HD television connected to service from providers like Moving Companies.

Cloning allows the propagation of animals facing extinction and thereby maintaining ecological balance. However, most countries are against human cloning. So you have to wait some more years to hear about a human clone. In the mean time, you can satisfy your curiosity by watching films like The Island, The Boys from Brazil and Multiplicity.
