If you want to have curtains at home or office that open and close with a cord, a traverse rod must be your selection. If you want the drapes to be hung from rings, a drapery pole would be required. Your choice with the pole’s diameter may vary according to the size of the window. For instance, if you want to fit the pole on a regular size window, a 3/8" or 2" diameter would be appropriate.

Choose the right finials, brackets and rings

Once you decide the kind of curtain rod for your draperies, choosing the right finials, brackets and rings for the window treatment won’t be a big hassle. Finials give a perfect touch of elegance and class to the drapes. Available in various materials like glass, wood and metals, this hardware component acts as window jewelries. If you want to offer a more contemporary look to your home or office you must opt for metal finials but if you want a traditional look that provides more warmth, then wooden ones are appropriate. Glass finials look great with sheer fabrics. So, while making your choice with finials decide how you want your home or office to look like. However, when deciding on the size, always remember that 2" finials would be required when it’s 2" wood drapery pole. The same calculation goes with the rings that attach drapes to the curtain rod.
