London is famous for many things. Most will probably think of big ben, the Houses of Parliament and the iconic red bus which has been associated with our nation’s capital for so many years. Another iconic place is London’s West End which has a variety of bars, clubs restaurants and (you guessed it) theatre productions which have many fans travelling from all over the globe. If you’ve never been to London’s West End and you are thinking about giving it a go, then here are some of our favourite shows you can catch right now:

• The Wizard of Oz – First on our list is a classic from one of the most famous musical theatre composers of all time; Andrew Lloyd Webber. The production is an adaptation of a 1900’s novel from L. Frank Baum’s ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’. The West End show is just one of many adaptations; there have also been pantomimes, amateur productions, films, ...
... television shows, books, comics and games. The story follows a girl named Dorothy Gale who is swept away to a magical land in a tornado and embarks on a mission to see a Wizard who can help her get home.

You can catch the show at the famous London Palladium, which is easily accessible via public transport. The venue has many other attractions locally if you are really looking to make a night of it.

• The Lion King – Next on our list is one of Disney’s most famous and established animated films; The Lion King. The musical is about a lion cub that is tricked in to thinking he has killed his own father, leading him to abandon his family and pack through guilt. The Lion King is a visually fascinating show which enables you to get up close and personal with some of the actors and props.

Simba, Mufasa, Timon, Pumbaa and Nala all come to you from Lyceum Theatre, which is right next to London’s popular Covent Garden.

• Wicked – This award winning production tells the incredibly well-written story of an unlikely yet deep friendship between two girls who meet as sorcery students. The musical follows the girls’ different paths and how decisions they make shape their future. Wicked is truly sensational and has earnt a variety of awards and positive reviews from peer groups, making it one of the most popular productions in the West End.

If this production has caught your eye, then you can catch it live from the Apollo Victoria Theatre, London.

• We Will Rock You – Finally, we leave you with probably the most famous and iconic musical ever to hit London’s west end; ‘We Will Rock You’. This epic musical is co-produced by two members of British rock band Queen and British play writer and director Ben Elton. The story is set 300 years in the future, where individuality is rejected before a lone “dreamer” appears who can fulfil a prediction that will enable the return of rock 'n roll. The production features the biggest hits from Queen, making it a must see for any die-hard fan.

The production is now in its 10th year, coming to you live from the Dominion Theatre in London’s West End.
