Following on from the announcement by LG and Verizon Wireless earlier this year, they have now showcased the fruits of their labour by way of the 4G LTE Smartphone, aptly titled, the LG Revolution.
LG Revolution
Available on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, the LG Revolution delivers both innovative LTE technology through high-speed wireless connectivity, meaning the LG WM300 module and LG L2000 chip allows consumers to stay connected whilst on the go.
Other features include complete HD support for streaming, playing and recording video multimedia whilst on-the-go, a chic design, large 4.3 inch touchscreen on a Android 2.2 platform.
Marni Walden, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Verizon Wireless commented: “[The] LG Revolution combines the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network with the power of Android 2.2 to deliver a blazingly fast experience.”
“The introduction of the LG’s first 4G LTE smartphone will be a positive addition to our robust line up of powerful smartphones.”
LTE Technology
LTE (3GPP Long ...
... Term Evolution) is a standard of wireless communication.
Based on GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, the aim of LTE and LTE Advanced is to heighten capacity and speed of wireless data networks by utilising cutting-edge hardware and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) techniques that have recently been developed.
Compatible with 2G and 3G networks, its wireless interface must be operated on a separate wireless spectrum, i.e. frequency.
With an all-IP flat network architecture, other features of LTE include end-to-end quality of service (QOS), including provisions for low-activity communications; peak download rates nearing 300 mbps and upload rates of 75 mbps, capacity exceeding 200 active users per cell, as well as the ability to manage fast-moving mobiles, and support for multi-cast and broadcast streams.
Verizon Wireless is one of several worldwide carriers who have - or have announced - plans to build LTE networks.
