Could The Iphone 5 Act As A Virtual Wallet Thanks To Nfc

There are hundreds of rumours flying around the internet about what features we may see added to the forthcoming iPhone 5. There are many features not mentioned however that previous iPhone owners and smartphone lovers in general would love to see the new model include. Here we take a look at some of them.
Near Field Communication, or NFC, is a relatively new concept on mobile phones and has been adopted by many manufacturers as well as global finance companies such as Barclaycard. NFC is a short range wireless transmission that would enable the user to use their iPhone 5 like a virtual wallet. Bank details of the owner would be stored on the device and when completing a transaction the phone can be passed over a suitable transmitter which would then prompt you to enter a PIN number or passcode on your handset and then the payment would be complete. This would not only be useful for general shopping but also as a means of using your handset to store tickets for public transport and various events. You could simply walk past a scanning device which would then register that you have purchased tickets. Whether or ...
... not we will see this debut on the new model remains to be seen but it is a feature that is growing and one potential customers would love to see.
FaceTime was a feature that Apple heavily publicised around the launch of the iPhone 4. The feature is Apples own video calling system and despite working very well is only able to be used when both callers are connected to a WiFi network.
This is something users would love to see change on the iPhone 5 and there is every likelihood that Apple will update the system so it also can be used when connected to a cellular network. This would have obvious advantages with the main one being that the user could be practically anywhere and still conduct this type of call. 3G coverage in the UK is rapidly growing and currently around 75% of the country is covered so it seems logical that Apple acknowledge this and enable FaceTime to work over this network.
The ideas mentioned above are just two from dozens that the public would love to see on the new iPhone 5. NFC will boast huge advantages and is a platform that has almost endless possibilities whilst the FaceTime upgrade would make video calling an integral part of the new phone.
The iPhone 5 is coming soon and the HTC Radar is available now.
