The success of the iPhone 4 is unmistakable, but the mobile phone industry has once again proved that success is not ever lasting in this industry. The iPhone 4 has just been overtaken by the Samsung Galaxy S2 in terms of popularity. Considering the recent quarter results, if Apple do not replace the iPhone 4 soon enough, then they would easily concede the top position to the Korean consumer electronics giant – Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is currently the most popular mobile phone, but already it is slowly losing out to the replacement model for the iPhone 4 – iPhone 5.

It is expected that Apple will be unveiling this phone in the next few months given that the replacement model for the iPhone 4 is more than four months overdue. The lack of the availability of this phone has made the Samsung Galaxy S2 as the top favourite when it comes to the high-end smartphone segment. ... Even though the Samsung Galaxy S2 is currently the thinnest phone in the market today, it could easily be usurped by the iPhone 5. Even though the exact dimensions of the phone will be available only after the formal launch, one can already see that the iPhone 5 will not be too different from the iPhone 4 in terms of the overall dimensions.

This is impressive considering the fact that the most rumoured improvement in the iPhone 5 comes in the display department. Instead of the 3.5 inch unit that has become the standard features of iPhone's, the iPhone 5 will be providing the 3.7 inch unit. This is something that is made possible due to the edge to edge display technology, which provides the capability to enhance the display size without taking a lot of space. As a result, the display in the iPhone 5 will look without Borders, which is unusual for a mobile phone, but one has to remember that this is the first time this technology will be making its debut in the industry. Like the retina display technology, it could become the craze for the next few years.

Despite being in the market for more than a year, the resolution of the iPhone 4 is something that is yet to be bettered by any phone. Hence, it is very much like that Apple will be retaining the same 960 x 640 pixel resolution for the iPhone 5 as well. The 1 GHz dual core A5 processor is another marked improvement in the iPhone 5, which will also run on the latest version of the Apple operating system – iOS 5. Amongst the plethora of improvements in the new operating system is the notification bar, which is very similar to the one found on the Android operating system. The iPhone 5 looks to be extremely close to the official launch after it was rumoured that Apple have started providing training exercises for their staff in dealing with the iPhone 5 queries.
