This year, LG are looking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 14 million tons; not only that, but unlike many industries who have made such promises, they are on track.
Last year, LG broke a record by reducing emissions by 12.9 million tons, making a fantastic start to their long-term goal of 200 million tons of cumulative reductions between 2009 and 2020, as part of ‘Green 2020’.
Green 2020
Helping organisations to achieve their carbon reduction targets, Green 2020 combines world leading consultancy services, a panel of respected supply chain and environmental leaders and technology solutions.
Offering a long term partnership approach to helping businesses achieve strategic objectives and environmental goals, they are considered by their clients as being one of few environmental organisations to take a business like approach to carbon reduction where cost reduction, management information, CO2 reduction and ongoing support are all vital.
Changes
Through improved manufacturing processes, better logistics and energy-efficient products, as well ...
... as reductions in CO2 at the end-use stage; LG have been reducing their greenhouse gas emissions in order to reach their target set by Green 2020.
The majority of these reductions in CO2 emissions have come from improvements in the efficiency of consumer products, in particular LED TVs and air conditioners. Additionally, significant improvements have been made in the efficiency of LG’s refrigerators and washing machines.
Moving Forward
With plans to lower emissions through better management of facilities, more efficient use of humidifiers, replacing old water-heating systems and air conditioners as well as reusing waste products, LG are looking to continue their already sterling efforts in greenhouse gas emissions.
