The Nokia N9 is the newest smartphone from the manufacturer. It follows the success of the Symbian powered N8 and E7, but can it match up to its predecessors?

In this article, I will take a closer look at some of the key features and what we can expect from the device upon its imminent release, so you can decide if it’s the right smartphone for you.

One of the most noticeable things about the Nokia N9 is its styling. It looks totally different to the N8 or E7. This handset is bang up to date and is arguably one of the most aesthetically pleasing handsets out there. It has a modern and sleek appearance, is very slimline at just 12.1mm (not to mention light weight at 135 grams) and as an added bonus, it will be available in attractive black, pink and blue colour schemes. If you are a style conscious user which also views their phone as a fashion statement, you are sure to love the look of the Nokia N9.

Under the hood, the Nokia N9 has a 1 GHz processor which powers the many applications found on the MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan OS, as well as certain aspects of the hardware. The advantages of this powerful processor ...
... range from fast loading and operating times of the applications as well as fast loading of web pages as well as being responsible for the responsiveness of the touchscreen.

The interface could be described as similar to the iOS, in the way the app icons are laid out within the screen. Obviously, there will be downloadable applications which will allow users to greatly increase the functionality of the phone, and although it may not be at the level of the AppStore or Android Market, it still allows users to improve the versatility of the device and take advantage of the hardware on offer.

As with pretty much all new smartphones, the Nokia N9 has a built in digital camera. This may not boast the pixel count of stablemate the N8 (with a 12 MP camera) but at 8 megapixels is certainly capable of producing pleasing results. It actually makes for a very attractive camera pone package; Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, face detection, touch focus and 720p HD video capture are all provided as standard.

If you like to store a lot of files in your phone, the Nokia N9 may be the ideal choice for you. Whether it is music tracks, videos, applications or documents, the Nokia N9 has you covered with models starting at 16 GB of internal storage, ranging all the way up to a whopping 64 GB.

The winning combination of stylish aesthetics and versatile features means the Nokia N9 should prove popular upon its upcoming release. It certainly makes a great choice if you are looking for something out of the norm, when everyone seems to be buying the same Apple and Android handsets these days.
