The unlock code
The cell phone runs on particular software which is well programmed and to unlock it a special code is required which is provided by the service provider. To get the unlocking code, the service provider’s customer care department needs to be contacted. They would verify the account details and they would need the IMEI number too. They would then mail you the code within 24 to 48 hours.

Unlocking the phone
To unlock one would need the unlock code and the IMEI number and a SIM card. The SIM card is inserted and when the phone starts it would indicate that the SIM card is unauthorized. Go to the menu and then select settings option. Then advanced options should be selected. Amongst the provided list SIM card option should be selected. MEPD should be typed in capital through the keyboard using ALT key. Then type MEP2, no text would appear both the times. Then the unlock code must be typed in after being asked for. The blackberry curve is now unlocked and now can be used under any GSM service provider’s SIM card.
