Reviewing The Exciting Sony Ericsson Mini

These days, it seems that the size of a smartphone takes second place to the features it offers, but there will always be those who prefer a more compact handset. The problem with this is that all too often this means that to achieve the desired dimensions, some features must be sacrificed.
The new Sony Ericsson Mini however, offers a solution for those who prefer a smaller phone but want all the features found in a larger device. In this article I will give an overview of this handset, looking at some of its key features.
As the name suggests, the Sony Ericsson Mini is a compact handset, measuring up at just 88x 52x 16mm. The front is dominated by the 3 inch LED-backlit capacitive touchscreen which offers a decent pixel resolution of 320x 480 which is able to display up to 16 million colours. This makes it an ideal phone for web browsing, gaming, viewing photos and videos. All the features you would expect from a larger phone are included; an accelerometer sensor, proximity sensor, multi-touch input and scratch resistant materials. The screen even features built in Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology for enhanced ...
... display quality.
Despite the small dimensions, users can fit a good amount of data within the phone. 320 MB of storage is included as standard, although there is also a microSD card slot. This comes with a pre-installed 2 GB memory card, but this can easily be replaced with a card of up to 32 GB, so you are able store an entire digital music collection along with videos, photos and applications downloaded from the Android Market.
As you may expect the Sony Ericsson Mini is also a competent web browser. 3G coverage allows download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps via an HSDPA connection, whilst Wi-Fi connectivity is also included whenever users have access to a local wireless network.
As with the rest of the Xperia range, the Sony Ericsson Mini is a great multimedia device. For starters, numerous music and video file formats are supported. Supported music formats include MP3, eAAC+, WMA and WAV, along with video files in the following formats: MP$, H.263, H.264 and WMV. A handy app called TrackID is also included as standard. This allows users to identify a music track which is currently playing. To use it, simply hole it near the source of the music such as a speaker, and the app will then access a database of songs and display details of the song such as artist, album, genre and title. It will also offer links where the song can be purchased and downloaded directly to the phone.
As will nearly every other smartphone out there, the Sony Ericsson Mini comes with a built in digital camera. Operating at 2592x 1944, the 5 megapixel unit offers a number of image enhancing features such as an LED flash, autofocus and the ability to capture 720p HD video footage.
As you can see, the Sony Ericsson Mini is a handset which offers all the features and functionality of a larger handset, but is compact and pocket friendly at the same time. This combination means that its success is all but assured.
