An Overview Of The Impressive Samsung Galaxy S2 With Touchwiz 4.0 User Interface

The Samsung Galaxy S has proven to be a popular device since its release last year, but now there’s a new kid on the block, the Samsung Galaxy S2. This sees a wealth of upgrades over the original Galaxy S, incorporating some of the most advanced smartphone technology available.
In this article, I will give an overview of the upgrades Samsung has made over the original, so you can decide if the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the smartphone for you.
The design of the handsets themselves differs slightly. Whilst the original has a slightly curvier appearance, the Samsung Galaxy S2 somewhat resembles the shape of an iPhone 4. The new version also trumps the original in both width and weight; at just 116 grams and 8.5mm thick. The rest of the dimensions are similar, however the Galaxy S2 is slightly bigger due to the fact it boasts a larger screen of 4.3 inches, which retains the same super AMOLED capacitive technology, and the resolution of 480x 800. Although the resolution is the same, but on a bigger screen, there is no noticeable difference to the display quality, which remains top notch.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 features ...
... the latest version of TouchWiz (4.0). This user interface offers a number of improvements over version 3.0 found on the original Galaxy S. For example, it offers a new way to assign widgets, by using the built in gyroscope, as well as a number of brand new widgets ranging from active weather apps, and live wallpapers. Up to 7 individual homescreens can also be assigned, allowing users to have different screens for different situations and scenarios.
One of the major selling points of the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the inclusion of a dual-core processor. At 1.2 MHz, this allows for blistering performance. This is advantageous to a number of applications; superfast loading of internet pages, faster downloads of apps, as well as a more responsive touchscreen. Although the original Galaxy S has a single-core 1GHz processor, this still provides great performance.
Another major upgrade is the 8 megapixel camera over the original’s 5 megapixel offering. With a larger pixel count comes an increased photo resolution and therefore higher quality photos. Additionally the Galaxy S2 has the ability shoot full 1080p video footage.
The original came with 8GB of internal storage as standard; however this has been doubled in the Samsung Galaxy S2. Therefore, thousands of music tracks and other multimedia files, along with downloaded apps from the Android Market can be stored comfortably in the phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 is one of the highest spec smartphones available today. It joins the ranks of only a small number of smartphones to offer dual-core processors, such as the LG Optimus 2X and HTC Sensation.
As you can see, a lot has been upgraded on this version, and it is sure to prove popular among those who are looking to upgrade from the original Galaxy S, or simply those who are impressed with the superb technology it offers.
