The United States has established a distinct set of rules to be followed for authentication of the property and other possessions of the military. The Department of Defense (DoD) follows a system of identification and authentication of all the weapons, assets, and possessions of the U.S. Army. UID is a system by which the U.S. government maintains better security and protection for its people. The UID Data Matrix Verifier, on the other hand, helps to identify those items and data that are embedded into a 2D data-matrix bar code. Let us examine the ways in which the UID Data Matrix Verifier system enables an entire nation to have a better and more secure system for the identification and authentication of the property of the military:

The U.S. military carries an immense responsibility. It protects and safeguards the security of an entire nation. Therefore, the weapons, equipment and all the related material and property of the military must be registered and compliant with DoD MIL-SPEC-130 or MIL-SPEC-129 guidelines. Each product or part must have a UID marking that is prominently displayed and durable enough to ...
... remain legible for the full lifetime of the given product. The process of marking has to be done, in strict conformance with certain rules set by the government. This process is referred to as UID (Unique Identification Data). For DoD Applications, many suppliers utilize a variety of barcode scanners, barcode printers, and even the UID Data Matrix Verifier, as some of the most important identification tools. All of the items in the government’s inventory are marked with a unique identification code; a UID Data Matrix Verifier identifies the code on the item, verifying that it is an authentic product that is owned by the military of the United States.

The unique identification code that is marked on the item makes it easier for the Department of Defense to keep track of all assets and property within their control; and do so in an easy and convenient fashion, using a crucial tool like a UID Data Matrix Verifier. This device serves a critical function in authenticating, recognizing, identifying, and tracking the properties and assets that are owned by the Department of Defense, and is one among the many different tools that are used by the DoD to facilitate the process of unique identification. It is very important that only a UID Data Matrix Verifier that is approved by the DoD will be fully compliant.
