An Introduction To The Brilliant New Nokia X7

Nokia have unveiled their latest high end smartphone release in the from of the gorgeous looking X7 handset. Not only does this model catch the eye in the cosmetic department, it also boasts some excellent features including a great set of camera functions and a needed update to the tried and trusted Symbian operating system. So are these changes enough to bring the X7 in line with the Galaxys and the Desires of this world.
Starting with looks and the X7 has a big advantage over its competitors in that it looks like no other phone currently available. By angling the comers of the chassis and giving the back a slight curve, the design is unusual, futuristic but most importantly stylish. At 11.9mm it is not the most slimline handset available but on the flip side of the coin it is far from chunky, and when in use the phone feels compact and well built, this latter part being reinforced by the 146 grammes weight which strikes a perfect balance between feeling to heavy and too light. The fact that Nokia have opted to use an aluminium chassis also helps reinforce the feel of quality that surrounds this phone. The update ...
... with the Symbian platform is very minor, yet it does offer a portrait virtual keyboard which was not available on previous versions and the homescreens now feel more responsive than ever, reacting to your movements instantly rather than with half a seconds delay.
The Screen on the Nokia X7 takes the middle ground in terms of quality, steering clear of the super high resolutions found on some top end smartphones but also bettering what can be found on the more entry level model. The reinforces the point that this model is not gunning for the iPhones of this world, but is happy to pitch itself at the middle range mass consumer market. At 360 x 640, the 4 inch display offers a high quality of image, especially when you take into consideration the massive 16 million colours that are on offer. Not only is the quality of the screen good, but its durability is a really attractive element. Thanks to the Gorilla Glass that is used in its construction, the panel is tougher than those found on many handsets with great scratch resistant properties being a very good selling point in these days of 18 month and longer contracts.
The Nokia X7 is a good quality smartphone that does not pretend to be anything it is not. It offers a good screen and great media facilities together with an impressive revamp of the operating system.
The Nokia X7 and the Nokia E6 are coming soon.
