In fact, it is the affordability factor that attracted owner Teri Jenkins, a life-long resident of New Jersey and former pharmaceutical data/services director of sales, to open Massage Envy Spas in her home state.

Within 18 months, she and her husband launched three spas, one in Branchburg, Warren and East Brunswick, New Jersey. We chose Somerset/Middlesex Counties because the interest in health and fitness is strong here, said Jenkins, who takes great pride in the environment she has created for her customers.

While the average hour-long massage session can cost between $90 and $125 at many salons and spas, an hour massage session costs only $59 per month at Massage Envy Spa, based on a 12-month membership. An introductory hour-long massage session is offered at $49, and an introductory Murad Signature facial is only $59.

Client Deborah Ryan-Pellatier, a resident of Bedminster, said she works very long hours and is a firm believer in the therapeutic benefits of massage. I've been going for massage therapy for over 20 years, but usually only four times a year, because it was pricey. Now at these rates, I can afford to go every month, even twice a month and I love it, she said.

Upon entering Massage Envy Spa, you feel yourself beginning to relax as you step into a soothing and nurturing environment decorated in soft colors and ensconced in the waves of restful music.

Cathy Callahan, a resident of Branchburg, works in legal administration and as a dance teacher at Broadway Bound Dance Center in Lebanon. Callahan, who considers herself pretty hyper, said she strongly recommends massage therapy to friends and family.

If I had the time, I'd go once a week, said Callahan, who is also involved in volunteer work in addition to her legal work. I can spend at least three hours a day alone at the computer just working on volunteer projects and I can feel the stress rising throughout my body. When I come out of a massage session at Massage Envy Spa, I'm just so relaxed. All your cares seem to just slip away.

Massage therapist Deborah Fernandes, who has worked at the East Brunswick location for three years, received her certification at Chubb Institute. I love my job. And our locations are great, she said. We always have new clients and our returning clientele are very open to trying the different modalities we offer.

Fernandes said her clients consistently compliment the Spa about its professionalism, warmth and feeling of serentity. We only use the highest quality creams, gels and lotions, and we have great heated massage tables, which are wonderful to try out on freezing winter nights, said Fernandes.

Jenkins added, Our clients love the fact that we are open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., so we really cater to their schedules and needs. And with the addition of facials, aromatherapy and Pro Heat Pain Relief, our phones are ringing off the wall! People finally understand that massage is a necessity to their health and well-being."

In addition to massage therapy, Massage Envy Spa also offers Murad Healthy Skin Facials, hot stone massages, aromatherapies, couples massages and Wellness Programs.

All sorts of people enjoy our Wellness Program, said Jenkins. At our locations, we spend hours working with high school athletes, professional athletes high-end chefs, local television celebrities, and professional dancers. Our goal, of course, is to make everyone feel like a celebrity.
