Each year, fishermen all over the globe set out with their best fishing gear in tow in pursuit of some of the many species of fish the best fishing holes in the world have to offer. There are hundreds of fresh and saltwater species that fly fishermen alone aim to reel in as often as they can in the hopes of having some fresh fish on the dinner table and perfecting their art form in the process. Over the last century or so, the increase and interest in fishing has reached record levels making this sport and art form one of the most beloved pastime activities shared by anglers all over the world. If you are somewhat unfamiliar with this hobby, below is a brief description of some of the most sought after fish in the world of one popular and extremely difficult form to master. This syle of fishing is called fly fishing:

Freshwater Fly Fishing

... bass, however, bass are a favorite of the fishing community as a whole. Still, the fly fisherman is likely to have an affinity with rainbow. Other popular fish that these anglers may happily settle for consist of steelhead trout, golden trout, and spotted bass.

Saltwater Fly Fishing

Saltwater fly fishing in saltwater is almost an entirely different sport in itself. This form of fishing requires a great deal of experience in order to be successful as well as a certain instinct for being able to scout out potential areas where the desired fish may be located. These saltwater anglers typically fish for anything from surfperch and halibut within the surf zone, redfish around the flats and marlin or even sharks in the deeper waters of the ocean.

Every year more and more species of fish are added into the record book of the International Game Fish Association. A few years ago, the IGFA included an additional eight species into this book of records. The records that are included in this book consist of national, state and international levels as well. True sportsmen in the fishing community refer to these records as well as local laws and regulations pertaining to their sport in order to maintain the functionality of the local fisheries.
