There are various connotations of the term ‘driving under influence' or ‘driving while intoxicated'. It has been noted according to statistics that driving under the influence of alcohol has been on the fall, whereas driving under the intoxication of drugs is on the rise. This is something for which a lot of factors are responsible, and one of them is the concern of the police following you looming large.

As far as the men are concerned, they are generally taken as being more reckless than the women. The main reason for the so called recklessness is the presence of the male hormone testosterone that are produced in men more than 40 times of what is produced in women. This is an important fact to be taken into consideration because testosterone happens to be the natural steroid hormone. The presence of the hormone is also the reason as to why men keep looking for challenges or thrills or risks, so to speak.

Men have this need to feel stimulated and this is why they push them harder than the extent to which women push themselves. Of course, even women want to seek out the thrill of participating in the ...
... thrill and excitement, but they do not go in search of it as men. With more and more being intoxicated, it is thus natural for them to choose to drive a vehicle when they are high on drugs.

For example, in the case of the commonly used pot of cannabis, a lot of people are not even conscious of the way in which the ‘pot' works on the brain. There are more than 400 different kinds of chemicals that are contained in the pot, such as the delta-9-THC and every person is affected in a different manner as a result of the levels of chemicals present in their body.

The THC levels which are contained in the pot affect the senses of individuals such as thought, concentration, pleasure, memory, and time as well as the sensory perception regions of the brain. All the above mentioned areas of the brain are used while a person is driving a vehicle. This is what scientists refer to as the ‘thrill' factor.

What provokes the person to drive a vehicle under influence is the fact that they are not totally aware of the consequences drunken driving may cause. Often, it is also not something they actually care about.
