Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, recently reflected on his efforts to bring the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB) to Hyderabad. During the 20th-anniversary celebration of the institution, N Chandrababu Naidu reminisced about his vision to establish ISB as one of the top business schools globally. Despite facing tough competition from other states, his determination led him to convince the ISB board members to choose Hyderabad, which was on the verge of becoming a flourishing IT hub at the time.

When discussions regarding the location of ISB were underway, Hyderabad was not initially considered by the board members. Mumbai and Bengaluru were the preferred choices. However, N Chandrababu Naidu personally contacted the board members and invited them to a meeting in Hyderabad. During this meeting, he presented a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation showcasing the potential of Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh. N Chandrababu Naidu also addressed all their concerns and committed to providing additional incentives, surpassing what other states had proposed. To stay updated on the latest news ...

They decided to establish the school on 260 acres of barren land in Gachibowli, adjacent to a central university. On September 19, 1998, the Andhra Pradesh TDP government, led by Naidu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the establishment of ISB in Hyderabad. The foundation stone was laid on December 20, 1999, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated the Indian School of Business on December 2, 2001. N Chandrababu Naidu, the current national president of the Telugu Desam political Party, expressed immense pride in his efforts to bring ISB to Hyderabad. He emphasized his desire for the institution to continue growing and maintaining its position as a top business school, nurturing future leaders. Madan Pillutla, the Dean of ISB and Professor of Organizational Behavior commended N Chandrababu Naidu's visionary approach and highlighted the institution's commitment to conducting India-relevant research that contributes to the economy, polity, and businesses.
