Furthermore, the official also stated that Ali Ahmad Jalali serves as the head of the new government. However, media reports claimed that American diplomats evacuated from American Embassy in Afghanistan. They sent to the airport by helicopter.
Why this all happening suddenly to Afghanistan? Who are these Taliban? Let us see.
Who are the Taliban?
Taliban means Pashto. It is the first language of an estimated 55% of Afghanistan’s population, as per UNESCO. But, the actual meaning of that word is ‘students’. Moreover, Mullah Mohammad Omar is the founder of the Taliban. In September 1994, Omar founded the organization in his hometown ...
... of Kandahar.
Post-Soviet era
The Taliban, which ruled the country from 1996 to 2001, students received education in Islamic seminars funded by Saudi. However, after the Soviet Union occupied Afghanistan in 1979, Islamic Mujaheddin fighters engaged in war with those Soviet forces.
Taliban initiated their rule
After the fall of the Soviet regiment, the country witnessed unrest with rival groups fighting for the power to take over the country. However, the Taliban promised stability and law in 1996, and the fighters captured Kabul. On September 27, 1996, Taliban established the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and Mullah Omar was declared commander.
Atrocities of Taliban
Taliban’s bombed several places in Afghanistan and killed a lot of civilians. Moreover, they are against Hindus and Sikhs and created violence against the workers and Christians. However, they prevented education for women, and Islamic religious education was encouraged for men. Furthermore, they provided shelter to Al-Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden as he planned the September 11 US attacks from there.
Return of the Taliban
In February 2020, a deal signed between the US government and the Taliban. The US had withdrawn the troops for 14 months from Afghanistan after 20 years.
