California Medicare Supplemental insurance policies are numerous and very complex. Supplemental Medicare policies pay medical costs regular Medicare does not cover. These plans are also known as Medigap and are available from private insurance companies. These plans are all required to have the same basic coverage. However, some plans have options above the basic plan. This is where the potential insurance policyholder must determine which plan is right for their situation.

The Medigap California plan A is the most basic plan while plans B-L offers every thing that is in plan A along with some extra coverage for each of them. On the other hand Plans K-L offers service coverage similar to Plans A-J, but the cost sharing for the basic benefits is at different levels.

Medicare SELECT is a type of plan that works in addition to the standard A-L Medigap policies; this can cost less than standard Medigap plans. But the drawback is that you can only go to certain doctors and hospitals for your care. You need to check with your state insurance department to find out whether or not Medicare SELECT policies are available ...
... in your state.

The Medigap plans B through J offers some extra benefits. However there are some people who want to have extra benefits offered by plans B through J and are ready to pay more for them. These plans cover all the basic benefits of Plan A. And along with that they also provide some extra benefits that are much helpful. While Medigap plans A-J also pays for the first three pints of blood you may need each year, which is totally excluded from original Medicare plan. On the other hand Medigap plans B through J also covers the hospital deductibles for each benefit period, which usually saves your money if you need to stay in the hospital.

For skilled nursing home costs it is true that he Original Medicare pays all for the first 20 days of each benefit period. But from the day 21 you need to share a part of the bill. In that case Medigap plans C through J pay your share of the bill from day 21 till day 100. There is another Medicare insurance plan available exclusively for the people of California which is called Cal-Cobra. Though the plan is a bit expensive from the mode of its premium payment it is even attractive than the group Medicare plans. However, it is cheaper than the individual plan. It includes some couples of former employees and along with that it covers the retirees, spouses, former spouses and also dependent children in a temporary continuation which is designed in a manner as same as the group Medicare insurance plan. The plan may cover two to nineteen employees at a time and also covers half of the percentage of the working days. The company as an individual authority is responsible here to pay the premium and not the employees themselves is another charming offer that is proposed by the plan.
