It can be easy to start believing that the car is a complex piece of engineering and to understand its workings is beyond the abilities of the lay person. And with the advances being made by technology it is true that a lot of the engineering that goes into making a great car is complex and can only be understood by those who are qualified enough to understand such things. On the other hand some features of the car's working can be simple to understand even for the lay person and how some car aftermarket products give value to the car owner can be understood even though it is essentially a technical product and not about style and color which is more easily understood by lay persons.

Take for example a cold air intake. The name doesn't reveal anything that you can associate with a car. In fact the name can perhaps even confuse you that it may have something to do with maintaining the temperature in the cabin of the car. But you can know what it is and understand what it does and it is not rocket science.

Firstly it has nothing to do with maintaining the temperature in the passenger cabin of the car. That is for ...
... the car heater and the car air conditioning to do. To understand what a cold air intake is you need to recall something you would have learned at school. And that is that as air heat it expands. Hot air therefore is lighter than cold air. A hot air balloon works on that same principle.

Therefore for a given volume more air can be contained if it is cold than if it is hot. So if the car engine's cylinder where the fuel is combusted gets cold air it will be able to accept more air. A cold air intake does just that. This greater amount of air will contain more oxygen and the higher amount of oxygen will make the combustion more complete. You will get more power and mileage from your car. Which means you get enhanced performance. You can see a wide range of cold air intakes at www.ilovebodykits.com
