Every week Curbed New York, posts an article called Curbed Comparisons. It is designed to give us insight on what the prices are in different New York neighborhoods, and what you can expect to get with a set dollar amount. Each week the article sets a price point, and then finds five or six apartments that you can get for that price or less.

Interestingly enough, the article was about the type of apartment you could get for $4200 per month. Depending on what type of lifestyle you live, you could choose from a studio apartment up to a two bedroom apartment.

The article featured a two bedroom, two bathroom loft-like apartment in Williamsburg for $4,215 per month, a two bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in the East Village for $4250 per month, a 1 bedroom apartment in SoHo for $4199 per month, a two bedroom duplex on the Upper West Side for $4200 per month, a one bedroom apartment for $4,250 per month in the Financial District, and a studio apartment on West 21st Street for $4179 per month.

Other than the studio on West 21st Street, I was looking for something a little newer than what they had listed so I did ...
... a little more digging to see if I could find more modern apartments for rent in NYC for about the same price.

On West 31st Street, at EOS, I found a studio apartment for $4160 per month. EOS is a non-smoking environmentally-friendly luxury high rise building in the NoMad neighborhood. The apartment is 510sqft with a 17' x 17'10 living area. It is on the 29th floor, and the windows face West towards the Hudson River. The unit has a washer/dryer set, so I wouldn't have to go to the coin-op laundry mat anymore. The building has a fitness center, swimming pool, game room, half court basketball, yoga and spin studios, a library with a fireplace, and a media room.

Honestly, I don't think I would use the library, but everything else sounds perfect for the price.
